A rare, variant edition of Black Panther #1 that was autographed by the late film star Chadwick Boseman sold for $10,000 to another actor.

Seller Nate D. Sanders Auctions said the highest bidder was Victor Gojcaj, an actor whose debut role was in the 2009 remake of The Taking of Pelham 123 starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington.

The comic is autographed by late comics legend Stan Lee and by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. Lee co-created the character with writer/artist Jack Kirby and introduced him in Fantastic Four #52 (July 1966). The variant comic is a specialty item from the Middle East Film & Comic Con, which has been held annually in Dubai since 2012.

Boseman autographed the book in 2017. He passed away in August at the age of 43, four years after being diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer, which he did not reveal to the public. He continued to make films throughout his treatments and surgeries, including Black Panther, which made $1.3 billion worldwide and turned Boseman into a global star.

Lee, who autographed the book in 2018, died later that year. He co-created many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes while chief writer and editor of Marvel Comics, including the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and more.

Gojcaj was featured in 2010's Unstoppable with Washington and appeared with Travolta in both 2014's The Forger and 2018's Gotti. He is currently a real estate investor in Scottsdale, Arizona.
