CD Projekt Red, the developer of the recently released Cyberpunk 2077, has issued an official apology to players who were disappointed with the game’s performance on last-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One.

"First of all, we would like to start by apologizing to you for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before it premiered and, in consequence, not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase," the apology reads, which was released on the official Cyberpunk website. "We should have paid more attention to making it play better on PlayStation and Xbox One."

On top of this apology, CD Projekt Red promised to fix bugs and crashes to "improve the overall experience" following the first round of updates, with the second round of updates set to be released within the next week.

"Expect more, as we will update frequently whenever new improvements are ready. After the holidays, we'll continue working -- we'll release two large patches starting with Patch #1 in January. This will be followed by Patch #2 in February. Together these should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on the last-gen consoles, " the apology continues. "We will be informing you about the contents of each patch ahead of their release. They won't make the game on last-gen look like it's running on a high-spec PC or next-gen console, but it will be closer to that experience than it is now."

Since the game was released, players have been reporting a number of graphic issues, glitches and crashes that significantly affect gameplay on last-gen consoles, especially PS4. Players have also reported that the game can cause epileptic seizures, with many players requesting a warning as well as a long-term fix for this issue. Due to this, Sony has been issuing refunds to players who request them. Starting from the release of the apology on Dec. 14, players can contact CD Projekt Red for a refund up until Dec. 21 at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com.

Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia and PC.
