Although details are slim, Joss Whedon announced Friday at Comic-Con International that his cult-hit musical Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog will air next year on The CW. Although the 2008 miniseries debuted for free online, and is available on DVD, it's never been broadcast on television.
According to Comic Book Resources, the director of Marvel's The Avengers also drew cheers for the audience when he revealed plans for a sequel to the project, which starred Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day.
“We’re going to do three prequels, but they’re going to suck!” he joked before adding, “We have a bunch of songs, we know exactly where we’re going ... and some of the actors in it are very successful."
Written with brothers Zack Whedon and and Jed Whedon and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is about a “low-rent supervillain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to.”
