Adam Hughes covers DC's "Uncharted" comic

Nathan Drake is looking to make a huge impact at Comic-Con International in San Diego this week, and not just in video game form.

Though the adventurer's latest PlayStation 3 adventure, "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" will be playable during the convention, DC Comics will also feature his exploits in a comic series set to debut around the same time as the video game, which is slated for release on November 1.

"Uncharted" #1 puts Nathan Drake on a quest that will sent him to the center of the Earth as he seeks out the mystical "Amber Room," alongside several of his friends including his long-time partner Sully and his on-again/off-again girlfriend Elena. Trouble soon follows, as enemies from his descendant's past are seeking it as well. The result is an adventure filled with thrills and plenty of great moments for Drake and company.

Sony and DC Comics have called in some heavy hitters to bring Nathan's world to life on the comic book page. Joshua Williamson, who previously worked on "Superman/Batman," is handling the story, while Francesco Francavilla (of "Detective Comics" fame) is handling the artwork. Adam Hughes, one of the most popular cover artists today, is tackling the covers for the series.

To celebrate the forthcoming "Uncharted" series, DC Comics will be handing out cover art posters to lucky attendees, who can then have them signed by Hughes this Friday and Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Posters and signings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get in line early at AA4 on Friday and AA3 on Sunday.

And fans seeking out more "Uncharted" goodies are in luck. A panel will take place on Friday at 4:00 PM in Room 25ABC, where Creative Director Amy Hennig and members of the game's voice cast will discuss the performance capture techniques. Sony will also have "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" playable at booth #4237, where players can team up in co-op fashion to survive skirmishes. Don't forget to pick up some limited edition "Uncharted" shirts as well!
