CBS's 'Training Day' Enlists Its Young Lead

Justin Cornwell will star opposite Bill Paxton in the CBS drama pilot "Training Day."

A modern-day reimagining of Antoine Fuqua’s acclaimed 2001 film, the series centers on young, idealistic LAPD officer Kyle Craig, who's appointed to an elite squad, where he's partnered with seasoned, morally ambiguous detective Frank Rourke (Paxton).

According to Deadline, Cornwell's character is assigned to go undercover in the Special Investigation Section, where he's supposed to take down Rourke. Drew Van Acker, Katrina Law, Lex Scott Davis and Julie Benz are set to co-star.

Cornwell's credits include "Alpha House," "Chicago P.D." and "Empire."

Danny Cannon will direct the "Training Day" pilot from a script by Will Beall, who'll executive produce alongside Barry Schindel, Fuqua, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman.
