CBS is looking to capture lightning in a bottle two summers in a row. The network has signed a deal with Amblin Entertainment, the Steven Spielberg-run company behind thee summer-event hit Under the Dome, to create more limited-engagement television, TheWrap reports.

The new series, called Extant, will focus on a female astronaut who returns from space carrying a souvenir in the form of a human-alien hybrid baby. She also has a human-looking robot son, adding to what will surely be a unique family unit.

Extant was created by Mickey Fisher who was looking at turning the concept into either a film or a series. It will run for 13 episodes next summer on CBS.
