With production underway on its pilot episode, the CBS adaptation of DC Comics “Supergirl” has already staked a claim to sharing in the Family of Steel’s live action legacy with the casting of former super actors Dean Cain and Helen Slater in unnamed roles. But with the latest photo from on set, the production is honoring that legacy in a different way.
Today, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg Tweeted the following:

Eagle-eyed reporter Andy Behbakht caught the reference:

The inclusion of a set from Cain’s 1990s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” would fit right in line with “Supergirl’s” method of honoring its past, but whether Kreisberg’s Tweet means the building with again double as the Daily Planet is yet to be seen.
Hailing from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, which also produce The CW’s “Arrow” and “The Flash,” the “Supergirl” pilot is pegged as “a near-lock” for pickup by CBS. Based on the DC Comics property, the project centers on Kara Zor-El, who flees to Earth to escape the destruction of Krypton. After hiding her abilities for more than a decade, she decides to become the hero she was meant to be.
“Supergirl” stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chlyer Leigh as Supergirl’s sister Alex, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Jeremy Jordan as Winslow Schott.
The pilot is directed by Glen Winter, a veteran of “Smallville,” “Arrow” and “The Flash.”
