CBS Orders New Show, Studio Says No

CBS' plan for next season's schedule has hit a bump in the road, with one studio refusing to accept a series order for a new show because there aren't enough episodes. Fittingly enough, the show is called Chaos.

Deadline Hollywood has the story about the trouble surrounding 20th Century Fox's decision not to accept CBS' series order for the new show about rogue CIA operatives. CBS has ordered an initial partial season of 8 episodes, but the studio has not accepted, feeling that their production cost is too expensive for anything less than a 13 episode order up front. The two parties are negotiating currently, but CBS is apparently ready to walk away and give a second chance to previously-discarded medical drama Gimme Shelter, if it doesn't get what it wants.

Television math is hard.
