CBS' New 'Training Day' Pilot Appoints Barry Schindel as Showrunner

CBS' new "Training Day" pilot has found its showrunner. According to Deadline, former "Intelligence" and "Castle" showrunner Barry Schindel will executive produce "Training Day." Schindel will oversee the already growing cast, which includes Drew Van Acker, Katrina Law, Bill Paxton and Lex Scott Davis.

"Training Day" is set 15 years after the David Ayer ("Suicide Squad") directed film and, "centers on an idealistic young African-American police officer who is appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with seasoned, morally ambiguous detective."

Schindel's previous work includes "Numb3rs," "Criminal Minds," "Law and Order," "Intelligence," and "Castle." He will co-produce "Training Day" with Anoine Fuqua, Will Beall, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Jonathan Littman for Warner Bros. Television.
