After a short five-year hiatus, we're back with a longtime CBR tradition. At the end of the year, we polled the many members of the CBR staff that make this site so great and asked them for their for their rankings of the top comics of the year. Every publisher putting out new comics material in English, regardless of genre or format, was fair game; each individual list is then factored in to determine the overall Top 100 that will be unveiled on CBR over the course of this week.

We started on Monday with #100-76 and then on Tuesday we had #75-51, on Wednesday we had #50-26 on Thursday we had #25-11 and now we have the top ten. The Master List will be up tomorrow, Saturday, 1/1, 9 a.m. (EST).

Peruse the list below, and if you feel so moved, take to Twitter and (politely) discuss your thoughts using the hashtag #CBRTop100. As an aside, let me thank Morena Perez Vitale for the awesome headers for this countdown. They looked gorgeous throughout.

The world of mutants has become one about inclusion, which therefore explains why perhaps the best X-title out of them all is one that celebrated the characters who didn't quite fit in with the other mutants, with a striking mixture of humor and action (and ultimately some pretty rough tragedy).

1. Nightwing

Nightwing

Written by: Tom Taylor

Art by: Bruno Redondo, Robbi Rodriguez and Adriano Lucas

Letters by: Wes Abbott

Publisher: DC

Everything about this comic is good. Characterization, dialogue, art, color. It's fresh, it's vibrant, and it's new, yet respects, homages and tips its hat to the past. The best part is that it does this in ways that reward longstanding fans, without alienating new ones. It's as close to a perfect comic as you can get. - Steve J. Ray, Comic Features Writer

Even though Dick Grayson is a cornerstone of the DC Universe, his best recent stories have all taken place when he wasn’t wearing his iconic Nightwing costume. But this year, Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Robbi Rodriguez, Adriano Lucas and Wes Abbott’s Nightwing gave Batman’s first sidekick an exuberant, title that stands as one of DC’s best ongoing superhero comics. Propelled by sleek and energetic art with dynamic action and gorgeous colors, this series has an acrobat’s precision, infectious optimism and style to spare. - Tim Webber, Major Issues

Taylor's writing has improved the foundation of Nightwing to be something much more pleasant to read. It has all the shocks and awes in the best way. Also, the recent issue, #87 is an amazing feat of art that shocked me with how beautiful it is. (Also, it introduced the best girl, Bitewing lol). - Nicholas Howe, List Writer
