CBLDF Events at This Weekend's Small Press Expo

SPX: Mignola & Blankets Art on Auction

The CBLDF is on the road this weekend for the SPX Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. In its 10th year SPX is the country's most prestigious alternative comics convention. This year CBLDF guest Mike Mignola leads off a list of creators that includes Jeff Smith, Eric Powell, Kyle Baker, Peter Kuper, Scott Morse, James Kochalka, Ted Rall and hundreds more.

The SPX is chartered to benefit the CBLDF and also has one of our most exciting auctions of the year. This year's auction includes many great items including the very first page of original art from Craig Thompson's Blankets to ever be released to the art market! Other original art and sketches in the auction is from Art Spiegelman, Carla Speed McNeil, Steve Lieber, Mike Mignola, and Colleen Coover. Auction items will be on display Saturday morning and the auction will occur Saturday afternoon.

Other CBLDF events include signings by Mike Mignola, Jeff Smith, & Eric Powell. Mignola will also be doing four commissioned sketches during the show to benefit the Fund. The commissions will be auctioned off twice a day on Friday and Saturday.

SPX opens Friday at 3:00 and continues through Sunday. The convention happens at the Holiday Inn Select Bethesda, 8120 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814. For more info visit www.spxpo.com
