WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the story "Addicted To Trouble" by Ram V, Fernando Blanco, FCO Plascencia, and Gabriela Downie from the Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular, available now.

When Selina Kyle left Bruce Wayne standing at the proverbial alter the night of their intended wedding, there were many questions left to be answered about where she would go and what she would do. But one of the simplest questions that has remained unanswered was whatever happened to her distinct, perfect wedding dress, which was designed by Joëlle Jones.

Now, one of the stories in the Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular finally reveals the surprisingly mundane fate of Selina Kyle's wedding dress and how she lost it.

WHAT HAPPENED TO CATWOMAN'S DRESS?

The wedding that never happned

Bruce and Selina were originally set to be married in Tom king and Mikel Janin's Batman #50. Both characters were shown eagerly and anxiously awaiting the day, with Selina even making sure to steal the perfect dress for the event, a perfectly in-character move that Alfred was aware of and accepted. However, the night of the nuptials, Selina spent time with her long-time friend Holly Robinson and was convinced to call the wedding off, somewhat due to the urgings of Holly, who was working with Bane to bring down Batman. Selina believed that she couldn't marry Bruce without risking taking away some of that strength he draws from his own internal pain and sadness. Without that strength, Selina thought that Batman might not be able to save the world in the future, meaning that his failures could be her fault.

Broken-hearted but resolute, Selina left Bruce and Gotham for a time, traveling the world and trying to distract herself from what she'd just done. In the current Catwoman series, she's spent some time as a hero in another city before deciding it's time to move one, taking her sister Maggie with her as she leaves.

After trading all the jewelry she had with her for a car, Selina and Maggie made their way across the United States in the Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular. After their car breaks down in New Mexico, a truck driver gave them a lift to Memphis, where Selina quickly found herself in a bar brawl that resulted in her and Maggie getting arrested for disorderly conduct.

After stealing a police car, the pair evade the authorities once more. But this time, they're forced to leave almost all of their things, which, notably for Selina, included the wedding dress she'd once stolen to wear that fateful night with Bruce. Selina claims that the loss of the dress doesn't bother her though, and eventually makes her way back to Gotham - and into Bruce's life, as evidence by her role in "City of Bane" and current and upcoming storylines in Batman and the upcoming Batman/Catwoman series.

However, it's worth noting that the dress, which was of such importance to both characters and fully symbolizes the marriage she and Batman almost had together, is now just sitting around in an evidence locker somewhere in Memphis, forgotten and ignored.

While it might just be a matter of time before Selina decides she does miss the dress and goes to steal it back, this could also be the ultimate proof that Selina has come to peace with the idea that while she and Bruce may be in love, they're never going to have a traditional relationship. No matter what, it's worth noting that one of the most iconic comic cook ensembles in recent memory of 2018 has a final fate, even if it does end up being forgotten in an evidence locker.
