Young Justice co-showrunner Greg Weisman says DC's anime-style film Catwoman: Hunted is "Young Justice-adjacent" in its continuity.

Weisman, the screenwriter behind Catwoman: Hunted, spoke to the upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie in a recent post to his website, S8.org. He says that while the film technically doesn't take place on Earth-16, its events still hold relevance in Young Justice's world.

"Folks have asked me if it's in continuity with Young Justice," Weisman wrote. "My answer: it's YJ-adjacent, much like that old Green Arrow/DC Showcase short I wrote years ago. A version of these events happened on Earth-16. If you're a completist, you're going to want to watch. (Also, I really think it turned out great!)"

Catwoman: Hunted is scheduled for release on Feb. 8, 2022. The film is written by Weisman and directed by Shinsuke Terasawa, with Jamie Thomason serving as voice director. It follows Selina Kyle/Catwoman, whose attempts to steal a priceless jewel place her in the crosshairs of various other DC villains -- not to mention Interpol and Batwoman.

The film stars Elizabeth Gillies as Catwoman, Stephanie Beatriz as Batwoman, Jonathan Banks as Black Mask, Steve Blum as Solomon Grundy, Lauren Cohan as Julia Pennyworth, Keith David as Tobias Whale, Zehra Fazal as Talia al Ghul and Nosferata, Jonathan Frakes as King Faraday and Boss Moxie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Cheetah, Kelly Hu as Cheshire, Andrew Kishino as Mr. Yakuza and Domino 6, Eric Lopez as Domino 1, Jacqueline Obradors as La Dama and Ron Yuan as Doctor Tzin.

Meanwhile, Young Justice: Phantoms -- the fourth season of the Young Justice animated series developed by Weisman and Brandon Vietti -- recently premiered on HBO Max. Phantoms debuted its first two episodes during the DC FanDome virtual convention on Saturday, Oct. 16, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays. The season is slated to run for a total of 26 episodes.

Phantoms will air its first 13 episodes through Thursday, Dec. 30. It will then go on hiatus before returning for its remaining 13 episodes in spring 2022. Young Justice has yet to be picked up for a fifth season, with Weisman urging fans to #SaveEarth16 by binging all four existing seasons so as to convince the powers-that-be at HBO Max to renew the show.
