WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Catwoman: Hunted, now available for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and digital HD.

In DC lore, there are so many assassins running around the world, it's hard to really say who's been the best over the decades. The comics have touted up Katana, Deathstroke and Lady Shiva, among the many, while Young Justice has put forward Sportsmaster, Cheshire and Artemis as top names for this list.

Interestingly, Catwoman: Hunted chimed in as well after Selina Kyle ran afoul of Leviathan, stealing an important jewel from them and bringing Interpol on their tail. However, rather than shape the best assassin as an outright villain, this accolade actually belonged to the Cat herself.

Catwoman: Hunted found Selina desperate and driven, constantly calling Holly back home in Gotham to ensure her "strays" were okay. It was pure motivation so she could snatch the gem, the Cat's Eye, and sell the emerald to make money. Her aim was to give them all a lavish lifestyle and end Leviathan's human trafficking ring.

As such, Selina was relentless in her pursuit, which led to a deal being brokered with Kate Kane/Batwoman and Interpol. In the process, the Cat faced Cheshire atop the roof in Europe, ready to duel to the death so she could get to Cheetah, Leviathan's shadow leader. This time, Cheshire's poisoned darts didn't work as Selina worked up a resistance to them over the years. To make it worse, Nosferata -- a true Batwoman -- attacked, swooping in from the high skies to kill the Cat.

Yet, Catwoman was able to overcome both in badass style, sending them crashing through the skylight in Leviathan's mansion. A massive fight then broke out, with the Cat slashing up Tobias Whale and taking out a multitude of other thugs with Batwoman. This time, she didn't kill anyone, using an Interpol raid to her advantage to scurry from the scene.

That killer instinct would return, however, when Leviathan sent the League of Assassins after her. Kate helped out, and they ran a friendly competition, leading to a sword-wielding Selina killing 27 people to Kate's 25. Granted, Selina had help from her cat, Iris, but she was sharper on the day, adding to her body count as Catwoman: Hunted progressed. More so, it confirmed Selina could toggle between being a master thief and an expert killer when she chose to.

The two biggest scalps would come in Catwoman: Hunted's finale, though, as she used dynamite to blow Solomon Grundy up and then tossed Cheetah off a crane and killed her. It was a dominating performance that even scared the real Leviathan leader, Talia al Ghul. As much as she wanted revenge, Selina intimidated her and left Talia plotting how to take one of these apparent nine lives later down the line in a possible Catwoman: Hunted sequel.

To see Selina Kyle as a premiere assassin, Catwoman: Hunted is now available for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and digital HD.
