Sorry, Selina Kyle fans, it doesn't appear as if Catwoman will crack her whip and leaping in Warner Bros.' planned Birds of Prey movie.
The long-discussed Suicide Squad spinoff, headlined by Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, had at times been reported to include the fan-favorite antiheroine Catwoman. However, a newly circulating rumor that Spectre co-star Léa Seydoux had been cast as either Black Canary or Catwoman was swiftly swatted down by TheWrap contributor Umberto Gonzalez, who insisted that not only is the actress not in talks for a role, but Catwoman isn't even in the film.

No, that dumb 4chan rumor is so not true. Léa Seydoux is not in early talks nor on some shortlist for either BLACK CANARY or CATWOMAN in BIRDS OF PREY. In fact, CATWOMAN is NOT even in the movie!
DC's Birds of Prey team is most commonly associated with Barbara Gordon's Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress and Lady Blackhawk, but just as director David Ayer's Suicide Squad included an appearance by Batman, the movie could feature cameos to set up future DC Extended Universe movies.
Christina Hodson has written the script with Birds of Prey, which impressed enough for her to also put pen to paper for the Batgirl standalone. Having hired Dead Pigs' Cathy Yan as the director and jumping ahead of Suicide Squad 2 on the roster of upcoming movies, Birds of Prey has unfurled its wings in recent months.
So far, only Harley Quinn and Barbara Gordon are confirmed for Birds of Prey. The film is expected to begin casting soon.
