Asmodee Digital and Experiment 7 officially launched CATAN VR, an adapted version of the classic board game formerly known as Settlers of Catan, on the Oculus Quest and Quest 2.
Developed with original Catan creators, father and son duo Klaus and Benjamin Teuber, CATAN VR reportedly maintains the tactile and social fun of board-gaming virtually.
"Friends and family can continue their board game nights from the comfort of their own homes with expressive in-game avatars, crisp voice communications, and intuitive control schemes," read the game's press release.
Originally launched for the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR in 2018, CATAN VR was also released as a flagship title for the Oculus Go. The game soon became a best-seller. CATAN VR allows players from all over the world to trade, build and settle together in the VR world.
News of the CATAN VR release came shortly after Catan creator Klaus Teuber announced he's releasing a memoir about the game's creation, My Journey to Catan, in March 2021.
