WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Castlevania Season 4, available now on Netflix.

Throughout Castlevania's runthe relationship between Sypha and Trevor has been one of the strongest and most consistent. While it's clear they cared about each since Season 1, Season 4 finally sees the two profess their love for each other in the most Han and Leia way possible, but their similarities to the iconic Star Wars couple go far beyond how they say I love you.

In the penultimate episode, "The Endings," Trevor, Sypha and Alucard take on Death himself. After killing his Rebis and being blasted apart from each other, Trevor pulls himself up and sees Sypha and Alucard are together and away from him and Death. Knowing he is about to risk his life for the impossible, he tells Sypha he loves her, and she simply responds, "I know."

This is practically the same way Leia tells Han that she loves him before he's frozen in carbonite during the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back; although, in this case, Trevor professes his love because he wants Sypha to know this before he dies. Meanwhile in Star Wars, the person whose life is on the line -- Han -- is being told he is loved because Leia wants to assure him about her feelings before it's too late.

While Trevor is presumed dead by Sypha and others, he remarkably survives and returns to Dracula's castle, badly injured but alive. Once reunited with Sypha, Trevor explains how he survived and makes a joke about how he's stayed single and carefree for so long. Sypha calls him out for being a rude idiot before telling him she loves him, with Trevor responding with, "I know."

This again mirrors Han and Leia's relationship, as Han confesses his love to Leia after she's injured and uses this as an opportunity to shoot a stormtrooper. In both cases, Han and Sypha are worried about their significant others, but Leia and Trevor push through the pain in favor of being their usual clever selves; although, Leia is in a much higher stakes situation at the time. They also find a sense of peace, despite the circumstances, in hearing their loved ones tell them how they feel for the first time.

Along with these confessions, Trevor and Sypha have a similar dynamic to Han and Leia. Like Han, Trevor is a dashing yet cynical rogue who's out for himself, but they eventually find something worth fighting for in the form of their loved ones. Meanwhile, Sypha is like Leia, as both are caring and stubborn leaders who are willing to fight for the people and will not let anyone, even their love interests, walk over them. Especially in Season 4, Sypha feels like General Organa as she is so focused on the best way to organize the public and keep them healthy and safe.

Han and Leia are one of the most iconic couples in science-fiction, and The Empire Strikes Back's love confession scene is a staple in their relationship. It's something that still resonates in the minds of old and new fans decades after it first graced the big screen. Whether this was intentional or not, that scene's impact appears to have even influenced Castlevania in terms of its own iconic couple.

Castlevania stars Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont, Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades, James Callis as Alucard, Theo James as Hector, Adetokumboh M'Cormack as Isaac, Jaime Murray as Carmilla, Jessica Brown Findlay as Lenore, Bill Nighy as St. Germain, Jason Isaacs as The Judge and Rila Fukushima as Sumi. All four seasons are available to stream now on Netflix.
