Season 3 of Netflix's hit animated series Castlevania is officially in the books. The series picks up approximately one month following the events of the season 2 finale and sees the rise of new threats for our heroes - some that require immediate action, with others that loom in the distance.
With season 3 done, the countdown to season 4 is on, so let's take a look at the 10 most powerful characters in the Netflix Castlevania series! Warning - spoiler alerts ahead in case you're not caught up.
10 LISA TEPES
Though not powerful in the physical sense, Lisa Tepes had a tremendously powerful effect on the show in her brief time on the series.
The former Lisa of Lupu had the bravery to seek out Dracula in an effort to learn of the science beyond mortals. The two would later fall in love and have a child. She would later be arrested on suspicion of being a witch and then burned at the stake by the Bishop of Targoviste when her medical tools were mistaken for witchcraft. Fearful not for her own life, she pleaded desperately with her husband not to take revenge against the townspeople, for they didn't know what they were doing. Her plea went unheard, as Dracula swore vengeance against the entire human race, which was the driving force of the first two seasons of the show.
9 HECTOR
One of two humans recruited by Dracula to join his army, Hector is a Devil Forgemaster, able to summon demons from Hell into corpses, turning them into powerful creatures that are loyal to his will. He is also a necromancer with the ability to "make life from death."
Despite his remarkable Forgemaster skills, Hector is lower on this list because he isn't much of a fighter. He also has a naivety to him that makes him susceptible to manipulation, first by Carmilla in season 2 and then later by Lenore in season 3.
8 CYCLOPS
No, not that Cyclops. The Cyclops is a powerful enemy that appeared in the season 1 episode "Labyrinth." While this Cyclops does shoot a laser from its eye like the X-Men leader, it's referred to as "Stone-Eye Cyclops" by Trevor Belmont for its ability to turn its victims to stone. While the victim is trapped in their own body, the Cyclops feeds on their fear and they can only be freed with the death of the creature.
While the Cyclops was ultimately defeated by Trevor, it was successful in turning Sypha Belnades into stone, a powerful character we'll be seeing later in this list.
7 ISAAC
The other human recruited by Dracula to be a general in his army, Isaac is a Devil Forgemaster like Hector. The similarities end there, as Isaac was fiercely loyal to Dracula and was crestfallen when Dracula banished him to the desert to protect him from the final fight with Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard.
Also unlike Hector, Isaac is a top-level fighter, having killed the powerful vampire general Godbrand as well as fighting through hundreds of the Magician's mind-controlled human army, even breaking free from the Magician's control himself. Isaac is set up to be a major threat in Castlevania season 4.
6 CARMILLA
Carmilla is the queen of Styria and the leader of the Council of Sisters. A dangerous and powerful vampire, perhaps her true power lies in her cunning and manipulation.
Initially joining Dracula as a general in his army, Carmilla proceeds to make Dracula's council question his leadership without ever appearing disloyal. Her peak manipulation thus far has been being able to convince Dracula's most loyal follower Isaac that her loyalty to Dracula is true, which she achieved because of her masterful corruption of Hector. The scary thing is we haven't even see Carmilla let loose physically yet.
5 LENORE
Lenore is a member of the Council of Sisters, serving as the group's diplomat. In season 3 she takes on the task of convincing Hector to build an army of night creatures for the council.
Though Carmilla leads the Council of Sisters, on this list Lenore is higher because of her actions on the show. Since any night creature Hector forges is loyal to him, the Council needed Hector to be willing to make the night creatures for their cause, lest he uses the creatures against them. Through the course of season 3, Lenore seemingly connects with Hector, to the point that they make love. Lenore then convinces Hector to give himself to her, which he consents to, making him her slave. Hector's night creatures are loyal to him, but because he is loyal to Lenore, his night creatures are now loyal to her. Though she freely shares this power with her sisters, were she to decide to form a coup against them, she would have a powerful army at her disposal which she has ultimate command of.
4 TREVOR BELMONT
One of the main protagonists of the show (and the only character to appear in every episode), Trevor Belmont is a powerful, albeit sometimes reluctant force for good on the series. The last surviving member of the Belmont family, Trevor helps play a vital part in the defeat of Dracula in season 2 thanks to his family's resources as well as his remarkable fighting prowess.
With many impressive fights throughout the course of the series under his belt, Trevor's most impressive battle feat was when he managed to fight Alucard to a draw. Alucard, however, didn't let loose with all of his abilities against Trevor. Had he, Trevor would have likely come out on the losing end.
3 SYPHA BELNADES
Initially presented as a scholarly Speaker, Sypha Belnades turned out to be one of the most powerful characters of the entire series. Through her magic, she possesses the powers of pyrokinesis, ice manipulation, and aerokinesis. As great as those abilities are, her greatest weapon is her knowledge.
As a Speaker, she is highly educated and her knowledge includes future prophecies as well as lost languages. Furthermore, she is able to complete the spell started by the Belmont family that allowed them to transport Dracula's Castle over the Belmont Mansion, which played a vital role in the defeat of Dracula.
2 ALUCARD
The human-vampire son of Dracula, Alucard has many inhuman abilities, including superhuman strength and speed, levitation, telekinesis, and shapeshifting. Under the guidance of his parents, he also gained a genius-level intellect, which proved vital to the defeat of Dracula, as his knowledge combined with Sypha's was a masterful combination.
Landing the killing blow on his father, Alucard inherited his father's castle, then was gifted the Belmont Library by Trevor Belmont, giving him the potential knowledge to become even more powerful in his immortal life.
1 DRACULA
The strongest vampire in the world, there was no doubt who would be number one on this list. At his wife's behest, he traveled the world to learn from people and humanity, but when she was unjustly killed for falsely being found a witch, Dracula's dark rage was fully unleashed on the world.
He took everything that Trevor Belmont, Sypha, and Alucard threw at him in their final fight. Trevor's Morning Star whip proved unable to kill Dracula and Sypha's magic did no lasting damage. Alucard managed to do some damage, but even he paled in comparison to his father's power. Alucard managed to stake Dracula only because he allowed it, the sight of seeing his son in his childhood room bringing just enough clarity back to Dracula to let his revenge come to an end.
