The planned Cassian Andor miniseries for Disney+ has seen a creative shuffle behind-the-scenes as pre-production continues.

Tony Gilroy, who had co-written 2016's Star Wars: Rogue One and helmed extensive reshoots on the film, has replaced Stephen Schiff as the new miniseries showrunner. Schiff will reportedly remain attached to the production as a writer, along with Beau Willimon (House of Cards) and Gilroy's brother and fellow filmmaker Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler).

Tony Gilroy had been brought on to the production this past October to rewrite the miniseries' pilot episode, with Lucasfilm reportedly unsatisfied with the series' scripts.

The miniseries had been over a month into active pre-production before the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic temporarily suspended development. Since then, the crew has continued to work remotely as best they can until the global health crisis subsides. It is unclear how much the pandemic and creative change has impacted the expected filming and release dates for the series.

Helmed by showrunner, Tony Gilroy, Star Wars: Cassian Andor stars Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. The Star Wars series does not currently have a confirmed release date, though is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
