An upcoming unauthorized biography of Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher, allegedly covering the late actress and screenwriter's last hours, has been completely disavowed by Fisher's family.

Written by Sheila Weller, Carrie Fisher: A Life on the Edge is slated to be published November 12 by Sarah Crichton Books. Its impending release has prompted Fisher's former partner Bryan Lourd -- and father of their daughter Billie Lourd -- to issue a statement distancing the family from the book, claiming that Fisher and her family do not know Weller.

"A person named Sheila Weller has taken it upon herself to sell and write an unauthorized biography based on my daughter’s mother, Carrie Fisher," declared Bryan Lourd in a written statement. "I do not know Ms. Weller. Billie does not know Ms. Weller. And, to my knowledge, Carrie did not know her."

Lourd admitted he had not read any of the book but wanted Fisher's fans to be mindful of the family's concerns when considering reading the text. Fisher's brother Todd Fisher has similarly commented on the unauthorized biography, stating that Weller had not spoken the family for research.

"I don't understand how you can write a book about Carrie without talking to those who knew her best," observed Todd in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Fisher's last on-screen appearance will be in this December's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with the production using previously unseen archival footage of Fisher from the filming of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, with Fisher's family giving their blessing to incorporate it into the film.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams. The film arrives on Dec. 20.
