The young apprentice to DJ Ertegun, Roddy, ends up being a huge help in Carole & Tuesday. After posting a video of a strange, unexpected musical performance on a whim, Roddy gets roped into Carole and Tuesday's music career more than he ever could have expected. With so much going on in a short time, Roddy doesn't always get the recognition he deserves.

Always willing to lend a hand and full of great ideas, Roddy is known for being dependable in any situation, which sometimes leads to people taking advantage of him (usually Gus). Here are ten times that Roddy made sacrifices to keep his friends going—even if he didn't want to.

10 Helping Gus Find The Girls In The Video

There's no Carole & Tuesday without, well, Carole and Tuesday. The plot all hinges on the girls from Roddy's "guerilla performance" clip being discovered by their future manager, Gus Goldman. Thankfully for Gus, Roddy is more than willing to tell his buddy everything he knows about the duo, and even helps look for them.

After Gus gives Roddy an out-of-the-blue call about the video, the two get together and somehow manage to find the apartment Carole and Tuesday live in. It's pretty lucky that they do, since Carole and Tuesday are completely unknown and, in Tuesday's case, trying not to be found.

9 Joining Team Carole & Tuesday

It's easy to take for granted since Roddy joins the informal alliance devoted to taking Carole & Tuesday to the top basically from the beginning. The series really downplays the fact that Roddy seems to be well on his way to being a music industry giant in his own right.

Near the beginning of Carole & Tuesday, there's a brief scene where Roddy is complimented for a music A.I. he designed. While Roddy's career is never shown to suffer because of his commitment to Carole & Tuesday, he must be putting some personal fame aside to help them as much as he does.

8 A Meeting With Ertegun

Roddy knows that in the Mars music industry, it's who you know that matters. In an effort to make a valuable connection for Carole & Tuesday, Roddy reaches out to his mentor, DJ Ertegun, to set up a meeting in the hopes that their music will impress him.

Unfortunately, due to Ertegun being a massive jerk, the meeting goes horribly and Tuesday lights the house on fire (somewhat accidentally). The viewer expects this turn of event to reflect badly on Roddy since he set up the meeting, but Ertegun seems to let the whole thing go.

7 Dancing For Hours

Carole & Tuesday Characters Lined Up

During the production of Carole & Tuesday's music video, a lot of shortcuts are taken since they have so few resources. When the video calls for a huge team of dancers, the gang tries to scrounge up what they can, but despite their best efforts, Roddy is the only available dancer.

Since they're unknowingly working with a defective brand of A.I. directors, the possibility of copy-pasting Roddy's dance is off the table, so the robot orders the poor guy to run his dance routine hundreds of times in a row. Roddy, as always, is a good sport about it, but his efforts were wasted on a video that turns out to be awful.

6 Borrowing Ertegun’s Car

The music video is one of the toughest episodes for Roddy. Tons of the props required for the shoot have to come from Roddy, and they aren't small things either. The video calls for a sports car, and Roddy is tasked with borrowing one from Ertegun.

Naturally, he has to lie about the reasons for needing the car, but Ertegun actually gives it to him. That's why it's so distressing when the busted A.I. director totals the car during production. Even though Ertegun is an antagonist in the first season, he and Roddy seem to have a genuinely good relationship, and jeopardizing that is just one of Roddy's many sacrifices.

5 Sitting Between Gus and Dhalia

This minor occurrence is a standard case of Roddy's pliability getting used against him. During the Mars Brightest competition, Gus keeps ending up in an audience seat next to Angela's manager (and mother), Dhalia. The two managers squabble pettily whenever in the same room, and eventually, Gus uses Roddy as a body-blocker to prevent contact with Dhalia.

As the youngest on the current two-person staff of Team Carole & Tuesday, Roddy gets strong-armed into doing a lot of things he doesn't want to. It doesn't make a huge difference, but sitting between Gus and Dhalia is clearly an uncomfortable position.

4 Breaking Into The Simmons Estate

Most of the things that are asked of Roddy in season one are minor, unsavory tasks that play off his distress for comedic effect. Before other artists start to flock to Carole and Tuesday's side, it's up to Roddy and Gus to take care of whatever comes their way.

When Tuesday is kidnapped and brought back to her family home, Roddy is involuntarily signed up for a rescue mission. The plan is created on the spot when the gang gets to the mansion. Naturally, Roddy gets picked for the worst job: distracting the A.I. guards at the gate by climbing over.

3 Going To Jail

This is probably the biggest sacrifice Roddy makes in the whole series in terms of damage to his own livelihood. The young man briefly has to go to jail when he and Gus stay behind to distract from Carole and Tuesday's escape. They get out by the start of season two, and the series plays it for laughs, which is usual for Roddy's misfortune.

Still, the more you think about it, the bigger this sacrifice is. Roddy was plenty successful and respected before the events of the show, and he puts it all on the line for a couple of girls he met pretty recently.

2 Housing His Mentor

If the first season didn't already prove that Roddy is a loyal and giving friend, season two gives us even more reasons to appreciate his interactions with the cast. When Ertegun is bankrupted overnight, the world turns on him instantly, a hopeless situation for the cocky DJ.

That is, until his only true friend and apprentice, Roddy, swoops in to save the day. Without hesitation, the young man gives his mentor a place to stay, a touching moment that is the catalyst for Ertegun's redemption arc and evolution as a person.

1 Helping Ertegun Get His Mojo Back

Roddy didn't just welcome the broken Ertegun into his home. He gave the DJ the encouragement he needed to get back on his feet as a musician and a man. While Ertegun is sulking, Roddy takes him over to Carole and Tuesday's apartment (much to their discomfort) and sits him in front of a keyboard.

With his days of writing songs without A.I. far behind him, Ertegun struggles to even touch the keyboard in shame. Eventually, because of Roddy's efforts, his mentor regains his trademark confidence and starts writing songs again.
