Marvel has officially revealed the cover of Free Comic Book Day Spider-Man/Venom #1, which will be released as a part of the industry-wide Free Comic Book Day event later this year.
The cover, which Marvel revealed today, comes from artist Ryan Stegman (Venom, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows) and features a gargantuan version of Carnage making his presence felt throughout the entire world in an image that's reminiscent of an image that featured Carnage looming over a city in Maximum Carnage. Additionally, Peter Parker can be seen having what appears to be a rather heated discussion with fellow Spider-Man Miles Morales in a corner bubble,.

Marvel explains that this issue will feature the creative team behind Venom (Donny Cates and the aforementioned Stegman) once again joining forces for "a story that's been brewing since classic Spider tales like Amazing Spider-Man #252, [Peter Parker, the] Spectacular Spider-Man #90 and Marvel Team-Up #142." The company also teases that Free Comic Book Day Spider-Man/Venom #1 will set the stage for "what will become one of the most fearsome events in the Marvel Universe."
Additionally, the classic Spidey issues mentioned by Marvel are significant because all three were published in May 1984, which means that they all took place right after Peter Parker returned to Earth with the alien costume (now known as the Venom symbiote) in the aftermath of the original Secret Wars event series.

On the topic of Peter and Miles' argument, Marvel also revealed that the issue will feature a story from Tom Taylor (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man), Saladin Ahmed (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and Cory Smith (Nova) that will take those two characters "in a shocking new direction" that will "build to one of Marvel's most fantastic and epic tales later this year."
