One of the world's most notorious criminals is looking to make a name for herself again. That's right, Carmen Sandiego, the landmark thief best known for a series of geography-based video games and TV shows, is making a comeback, this time on the big screen.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego debuted back in 1985 for the computer and video game systems of the day. For the next 15 years, she dominated the edutainment subgenre of video games with installments focusing on the United States, history and eventually branching out into other subjects like math. The video games even spawned a trio of TV series, two PBS game shows and an animated series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Darren Lemke, who wrote a draft of Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer, has been tapped by current Carmen copyright holder Walden Media to pen a script. Lemke has also written screenplays for Goosebumps and Beasts of Burden film adaptations. The folks at Walden want the film to be a cross between The Thomas Crowne Affair and National Treasure. Jennifer Lopez is signed on to produce and might also star as the scarlet-clad thief.
