Thanks to the dual popularity of the manga and the anime series, Cardcaptor Sakura got a sequel series nearly 20 years after the original. Clear Card Arc has reignited interest in Sakura’s capturing of her magical cards.

In Sakura’s world, magic is learned through trial and error as people with a natural affinity for magic find themselves thrust into fantastic situations. Unlike Harry Potter, there is no magical school for Sakura to attend and learn about her new skills. If she and her allies did find themselves accepted to Hogwarts, however, these would be their houses.

10 Touya: Hufflepuff

Touya In Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Hufflepuff

As a big brother, Touya never misses the chance to mess with his little sister Sakura, even when he knows she’s involved in magical heroics. He calls her a “monster” on a regular basis just because he knows that will set her off.

That teasing is all born from affection. Touya is one of the most loyal people in Sakura’s life. He takes a step back and allows her to figure out her magic on her own. Touya gives up his own magic so Yukito can survive. He also works about 300 part-time jobs (it seems like) in order to pay for his own schooling. Touya fits perfectly in the Hufflepuff House.

9 Yue: Ravenclaw

Yue In Cardcaptor Sakura Ravenclaw

Yue is a bit hard to pin down. While he’s courageous in a fight and loyal to the master of the cards, whether that’s Clow Reed or Sakura, he also tries to stay incredibly closed off. He spends more time in his own head than he does out in the world.

Yue becomes the person Sakura goes to the most for advice about magical goings-on. He’s the one who uses his assembled knowledge to help her through tough spots. For that, he gets sorted into Ravenclaw.

8 Yukito: Hufflepuff

Yukito In Cardcaptor Sakura Hufflepuff

Touya and Yukito are very much two sides of the same coin, which is why they both end up in Hufflepuff. While Touya teases his sister, Yukito teases Touya, and is always ready to compliment everyone else around him.

Like Touya, Yukito works several different jobs. He’s also incredibly protective of Sakura and her friends. Once he learns of the magical truth behind his existence, he takes it in stride and willingly gives up his own form on a regular basis so Yue can help.

7 Eriol: Slytherin

Eriol In Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Slytherin

Perhaps it’s because Eriol is the reincarnation of Clow Reed himself, but Eriol is certainly one of the sneakiest of characters in the Cardcaptor franchise. As a result, he lands in Slytherin.

Eriol typically knows more than he’s letting on. Rather than help out the people he cares about, he leaves them to their own devices, or even cuts off his communication with them completely so that they’re forced to learn on their own. It’s a tough love approach to teaching, and his secretive nature doesn’t always sit well with fans.

6 Kero: Gryffindor

Kero In Cardcaptor Sakura Gryffindor

Whether he’s in his more powerful true form, or he looks like a stuffed animal, Kero is always ready to help Sakura save the day. It doesn’t matter if he can’t always breathe fire; he’s a Gryffindor.

Kero, more so than Yue, allows his emotions to guide him. He cares for Sakura like she’s family instead of like she’s the master of his magic. That means he can make some risky decisions, putting himself in danger to help her in a fight.

5 Ms. Mizuki: Slytherin

Ms. Mizuki is a lot like Eriol in how she approaches her magical adventures. She often knows a lot more than she lets on. While she certainly has a kind heart, she’s also got the Slytherin sneakiness.

When she was a student teacher, she entered into a relationship with 14-year-old Touya and managed to keep it from everyone. She left him behind to follow her own ambition and career, which is probably the best thing she could have done for him. When she returns to town, however, she acts as if nothing has happened and that her presence shouldn’t be strange to him at all. Then, she keeps secrets from Sakura about the magic she is connected to before teaming up with Eriol. She’s certainly a character to watch closely.

4 Syaoran: Slytherin

Syaoran Li In Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Slytherin

When Syaoran Li moves to Japan from China, it’s supposed to be temporary. He’s there to capture some Clow Cards and make his family proud. His ambitious nature is pretty clear from the moment he’s introduced.

Over the course of the series, however, that ambition softens a bit. He’s still secretive and cares more about his inner circle than he does anyone else, but he’s not the stereotypical Slytherin. Syaoran has a lot of Gryffindor tendencies as well, but that probably runs in his magically-knowledgeable family since the Lis all study how to best protect the world from magic and how to protect magic from the world.

3 Meiling: Gryffindor

Created exclusively for the anime, Meiling is Syaoran’s cousin. She makes the journey to Japan to provide him with some company and support even though she has no magical abilities of her own. Meiling never lets a lack of magic stop her from protecting the people she cares about or trying to make Syaoran proud.

She also loves to be the center of attention in just about any situation. Meiling isn’t shy about her feelings either, reminding everyone on a regular basis of her romantic designs for her cousin. If anyone in the series embodies the Gryffindor stereotypes of bravery, emotional outbursts, and stubbornness, it’s Meiling.

2 Tomoyo: Ravenclaw

Tomoyo In Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Ravenclaw

Some fans might think Tomoyo belongs in Hufflepuff as a result of her kindness and unwavering loyalty. That could easily be true. In fact, if given the choice, there’s a good chance Tomoyo would even choose Hufflepuff, but she belongs in Ravenclaw.

Tomoyo is interested in any subject put in front of her, excels in school, has an appreciation for music theory, and even helps guide her mother’s company to new technological advances. Tomoyo also has a knack for videography and design. When she makes costumes for Sakura, she doesn’t just make them look fancy but makes them practical as well with waterproof fabrics and heat resistant materials. Tomoyo thinks of everything.

1 Sakura: Hufflepuff

Sakura In Cardcaptor Sakura Hufflepuff

There tends to be a trend in magical girls in anime and manga: the leads are all young women who are “normal” without that Gryffindor bravery or Slytherin cunning to start. They are unexpectedly thrust into magic. That’s very much true for Sakura.

Sakura, like Sailor Moon before her, is brave because of the support system she builds around her. She’s incredibly loyal to the people she cares about and is unfailingly kind. Sakura always wants to see the best in people. She even makes friends with the magical creatures captured in her cards. Her kindness in the face of danger, her resolve to find all of the cards, and the loyalty she inspires, make her a Hufflepuff.
