Well here's some news that doesn't suck at all. Cartoon Network confirmed in a press release that it has partnered with Angry Filmworks to develop a live-action movie adapted from the environmentally friendly '90s superhero cartoon series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Angry will handle the heavy lifting, with Don Murphy and Susan Montford's company being given "exclusive rights to develop and package the property and advance it towards production."

The environmentalist angle is obviously still a pretty strong focus, given today's ... ahem ... climate. "The messages of Captain Planet are even more relevant today," Snyder said in a statement. "We feel this team can bring the world’s first eco-hero to life in a powerful motion picture that is not only pertinent but entertaining."

I'm sold. Bring on the Captain Planet.
