Despite the legendary  -- perhaps even notorious -- secrecy surrounding Marvel Studios productions, it's virtually inevitable that, as soon as a new film begins its theatrical rollout, pirated footage will promptly surface online. Such is the case with Captain Marvel, which opened in previews Thursday ahead of its nationwide release today.

It should come as no surprise that the surreptitiously recorded footage is the mid-credits scene, which connects Captain Marvel to Avengers: Endgame. CBR won't link to the video, but it will undoubtedly turn up in a simple Google search.

The blurry, but impressively steady, footage, clearly captured with a phone, shows what appears to be Dutch subtitles.

The post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War similarly leaked last year, within hours of the blockbuster's debut, showing Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury sending a distress call to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), thus setting up her solo film and her eventual arrival in Endgame. So, perhaps there's a bit of symmetry at play.

Of course, that leak did nothing to harm Infinity War's box office -- it went on to earn $2.05 billion worldwide -- and instead stoked excitement for Captain Marvel.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as the commander of Starforce, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass, McKenna Grace as a young Carol Danvers and Annette Bening as the Supreme Intelligence.
