Concept artist Jerad Marantz shared an early design for Captain Marvel's Skrulls that borrowed a lot more inspiration from the comics.

An early design for Captain Marvel's Skrulls borrowed a lot more inspiration from the comics.

On his Instagram, concept artist Jerad Marantz shared an image of a Skrull design he worked on for the film, which shows a green-skinned Skrull wearing a purple uniform, similar to how the shapeshifting species often appears in the comics. “Eventually the design was changed and I absolutely love how they came out,” Marantz said in the caption.

Marantz went on to praise and tag the multiple artists who contributed to the final design. At the time of writing, the post has received over 6,000 likes.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film is in theaters now.
