Captain Marvel has a lot of fuel left in the cosmic tank.

Marvel Studios' latest film came crashing out of the gates when it premiered last week. With a domestic gross of $153 million and an international haul of $302 million, Captain Marvel's whopping $455 million start made it not only the biggest opening weekend for a female-led film, but also the sixth biggest opening of all-time.

Following this achievement, the film wasted no time in crossing the $500 million mark on Monday, making the $1 billion threshold the film's next target. Now, as box-office estimates turn to next weekend, it appears as if, unsurprisingly, Captain Marvel will, once again, emerge victorious.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Captain Marvel's only adversary next weekend, Paramount Pictures' animated film Wonder Park will not make a splash at the box-office.

"Marvel Studios' hit superhero film Captain Marvel will rule the box office charts again this weekend, as Paramount Pictures' long-in-the-works animated kids' film Wonder Park braces for a rocky ride at theaters," the LA Times wrote. "Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson as Air Force pilot-turned intergalactic savior Carol Danvers, is expected to gross about $70 million in the U.S. and Canada from Friday through Sunday, following up its impressive $153-million opening."

With a strong audience score and repeat viewings, the movie is proving to have legs that will see it continue to triumph at the box-office. What's more, Captain Marvel will not have any real challengers until Disney's Dumbo flies into theaters on March 29, which will be closely followed by Warner Bros.' electric superhero film Shazam! on April 5.

"The audience speaks!" Disney CEO and chairman Robert Iger tweeted on Saturday, to congratulate the Marvel film. "Captain Marvel is a film we are very proud of. Congratulations Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and the Marvel Studios team! Now it’s on to Avengers!"
