Captain Marvel punches out a baby in a bonkers new parody of the first trailer for the Marvel Studios film.
Riffing on many elements of the trailer for the next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the video is the latest in the “Weird Trailers” parody series by Aldo Jones. The video tweaks the events of the trailer, turning Carol Danvers into a head- bobbing, screaming weirdo. It also introduces other characters from other franchises -- most notably Peter Parker from the original Spider-Man trilogy.
The moment that stands out most, however, comes when Captain Marvel ends up on a train. Instead of punching an old woman (most likely a shape-shifting Skrull) like she does in the original trailer, the parody depicts the superhero slugging a baby. Like, straight in the face.
The gag has been edited into the trailer from The Campaign, allowing the parody to slow down and zoom in on Captain Marvel just tagging a toddler. Now it’s just fun to think about that baby also being a Skrull.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as the commander of Starforce, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film arrives on March 8, 2019.
