With Captain Marvel blasting off in cinemas in two weeks, the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film has teamed up the fruit company Dole to launch a national health and wellness campaign to encourage better eating habits and improve women's health in time for Women's History Month in March.
A 10-week campaign titled "Powering the Hero Within," which kicks off on February 25 and lasts through May 5, will spotlight important women in nutrition over history through blogs and social media posts. The campaign will also raise awareness of nonprofit organizations, share new recipes to improve dietary intake and feature Captain Marvel-branded products to raise the campaign's profile with the general public.
"In honor of both Captain Marvel and March’s designation as Women’s History Month, Dole salutes these past and present champions of nutrition, health and wellness whose accomplishments allow us to do the work we do today," Dole Nutrition & Health Communications Manager Melanie Marcus explained.
More information about the campaign, including spotlight posts and recipes, can be found on Dole's website.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film arrives on March 8.
