Ben Mendelsohn, who played the Skrull Talos in both Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home, shared his thoughts on the notion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe losing Peter Parker to Sony.
"But s*** man. You can’t lose Spider-Man from the Marvel universe. He’s one of their absolute motherf***ing pornstars," Mendelsohn told Metro. "In fact, I cannot think of a single character who’s more important to Marvel than Spider-Man. You’ve got Hulk, you’ve got Thor…none of them are as important as Spider-Man. None of them."
"It would have been a disaster," he concluded.
Thankfully, the crisis was averted as Marvel Studios eventually struck a new deal with Sony in September, and a third MCU Spider-Man film is set to release on July 16, 2021.
Mendelsohn will work with Tom Holland again in the upcoming animated film Spies in Disguise, which also stars Will Smith.
Helmed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, J.B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
