Following the successful launch of Captain Marvel last week, Samuel L. Jackson gave an in-depth interview to Esquire magazine where the actor addressed his feelings over any possible backlash that he has received over his outspoken political views.

As the Nick Fury actor made clear to interviewer Carvell Wallace, he does not care if anyone turns on him because of his political beliefs. In fact, his stance on anyone critical of him voicing his opinion on Donald Trump is a rather defiant one.

After Wallace asked him why he isn't careful about sharing his views, as other actors are often concerned about alienating any possible fans by voicing their political views, Jackson first replied that he partially feels that he is simply giving back the same sort of treatment that conservative posters online gave to Barack and Michelle Obama. Mostly, though, he believes that Trump is so bad that you have to speech out. He explained, "This motherfucker is like ruining the planet and all kinds of other crazy shit. And the people think that’s okay. It’s not fucking okay. And if you’re not saying anything, then you’re complicit. And I wouldn’t give a fuck if I was a garbageman and I had a Twitter account; I’d tweet that shit out. I’m not thinking about who I am and what my job is when I do that shit."

When Wallace then asked if he was concerned about antagonizing fans. Jackson went right at his haters, noting, "I know how many motherfuckers hate me. 'I’m never going to see a Sam Jackson movie again.' Fuck I care? If you never went to another movie I did in my life, I’m not going to lose any money. I already cashed that check. Fuck you. Burn up my videotapes. I don’t give a fuck. 'You’re an actor. Stick to acting.' 'No, motherfucker. I’m a human being that feels a certain way.' And some of this shit does affect me, because if we don’t have health care, shit, and my relatives get sick, they’re going to call my rich ass. I want them to have health care. I want them to be able to take care of themselves. This is how I feel. "

Jackson then amusingly notes that he actually does try to restrain himself a bit on social media, claiming, "...I count to one hundred some days before I hit 'send,' because I know how that shit is."

As Jackson enters his seventies, it is clear that he is not ready for anyone to tell him what to do.
