Considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe is single-handedly responsible for the modern popularity of the technique, the question is never does a Marvel Studios film have a post-credits scene, but how many does it have. Beginning with the birth of the blockbuster franchise in 2008 with Iron Man, every installment has featured at least one such sequence, although with 2012's The Avengers, two has become more or less the standard. Of course, there are always exceptions, with 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 going all out with five, and last year's Avengers: Infinity War dialing back to just one, setting up the introduction of Carol Danvers.

And that brings up to the eagerly awaited Captain Marvel, which rolls out Friday in theaters nationwide. How many post-credits scenes does it have?

CAPTAIN MARVEL REVIEW: The Future of the MCU Looks Brighter, Stronger

Breaking with Infinity War, Captain Marvel returns to the tried-and-true MCU formula with two stingers, one in the middle of the credits and the other afterward.

Starforce Captain Marvel

In keeping with franchise tradition, one is a lighthearted callback to the events of the film itself, while the other looks ahead to what's next. We don't need to tell you want that is (but -- OK, minor spoiler! -- it's Avengers: Endgame).

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Needless to say, as with every installment of the MCU, you'll want to stay seated until the very end. Don't start inching your way into the aisle, or lurk like a gargoyle at the half-open door, making a potential fire hazard of yourself. The restroom, the parking meter, the babysitter, the missed phone calls and texts? They can wait a few minutes longer. But you probably had already decided that.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film opens Friday nationwide.
