There was a new development in the unending rivalry between Marvel and DC fans this week, and it happened during Jimmy Kimmel’s recent interview with Gotham star Ben McKenzie, who plays Jim Gordon on the show.

At about the 6:05 mark in the Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview, a noise can be heard in the background, which Kimmel explains is the sound of fighter jets flying past for the nearby Captain Marvel premiere. McKenzie responds by laughing and clapping in a good-natured way.

“Marvel just screwed DC in a huge way,” Kimmel joked. And McKenzie responded, “Now they’re just messing with us. They’re showing off at this point.”

The interview itself is one that Gotham fans will want to watch, as McKenzie discussed the possible fate of Bruce Wayne, Jim Gordon and more as the series comes to a close.

Gotham is in its fifth and final season and new episodes air on Fox Thursdays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. central. It stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor, Carmen Bicondova, Erin Richards and Sean Pertwee.
