WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Captain Marvel #14, by Kelly Thompson, Lee Garbett, Tamra Bonvillain and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel is no stranger to tangling with Tony Stark/Iron Man. Civil War II in 2016 pit the heroes against each other in a fierce battle over the ethics of using precognition to solve crimes. At the climax of their battle, Carol hit Iron Man so hard that he ended up in a coma.

Towards the start of the current "The Last Avenger" arc, Captain Marvel again beat Iron Man. This time, Carol hit Tony fast and hard, preventing him from being able to issue voice commands to his suit, which effectively neutralized his greatest advantage. That strategy was likely influenced by having had to tangle with the hero in the past. In Captain Marvel #14, Carol uses that same tactic to beat T'Challa/Black Panther.

At the start of the current arc, the powerful Vox Supreme planted bombs all around the world and threatened to detonate them if Carol didn't kill her Avengers teammates. Equipped with a suit designed by Vox Supreme to monitor her actions, Carol takes down both Thor and Iron Man.

However, instead of killing them, she hides them Singularity's pocket dimension, which Vox Supreme can't monitor. She then uses cloned versions of them to make Vox Supreme think she's accomplished her task while she tries to figure out just how to defeat the villain.

As two Avengers are already missing, Black Panther is prepared when Captain Marvel flies to Palo Alto to take him on. He gets the drop on her and blasts her out of the sky. However, as her new suit obscures her identity, Black Panther isn't quite sure who he's up against. The two battle, with T'Challa putting up a good fight. However, it's not enough.

During the battle, Carol remarks, "Like with Tony, T'Challa's suit is my biggest problem. Solve the suit, and you solve the problem." Captain Marvel blasts Black Panther into some nearby power lines, knocking him out and taking his suit offline. However, that's not the end of the fight. Although T'Challa is defeated, the hero had back-up waiting in the wings: Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk.

Taking out Thor, Iron Man and Black Panther is no easy feat, as they're three of the strongest heroes around. However, Carol's focus on taking out Black Panther and Iron Man's suits serves her well. Although they're definitely formidable without their gear, the two heroes are much more vulnerable. Captain Marvel knows her allies well, which means she's one of the deadliest threats the Avengers have faced in a very long time, even if she's just trying to buy time to defeat Vox Supreme.

Captain Marvel #15 releases Feb. 19 from Marvel Comics.
