Although Captain Marvel doesn't hit theaters until March, we're already starting to see a bit of merchandise released, the most recent of which comes from the Hong Kong-based collectibles brand Hot Toys, which recently unveiled images of its Captain Marvel figure and its variants based on the character set to appear in the upcoming film.
The figure will stand at approximately 29 centimeters tall and possess 28 points of articulation, as well as a ton of accessories including a jacket, interchangeable gloved hands, interchangeable helmeted head and unmasked head and much more. As if that weren't enough, exclusive to the deluxe figure is Goose, who has thus far only appeared briefly, being pet by an excited Nick Fury.
Despite only appearing for a few brief seconds at the end of the second Captain Marvel trailer, released in December 2018, Goose the cat -- whose name is an intentional nod to the film Top Gun -- quickly became the focus of wild fan theories, fan art and general excitement, all of which was enhanced by the release of carefully worded hints regarding the cat's role in the film from producers, who revealed that the inspiration for the inclusion of Goose came directly from the comics. According to early reviews of the film, the cat steals the show. It's no surprise then that Hot Toys would look to include the kitty with their deluxe figure for passionate fans.
Just as Captain Marvel herself has been sculpted and hand-painted with stunning detail, so too has Goose the cat, which will stand at an adorable 4.5 centimeters and -- just as it does in the film -- come with a collar and name tag. Unlike the Captain Marvel figure, Goose does not appear to feature any points of articulation, though, as evidenced by the promotional photos, does seem to fit comfortably enough in the Captain Marvel figure's arms as it is.
The Captain Marvel figure, sculpted by Lee So Young, painted by E-Lee, J.C Hong and others using Brie Larson's likeness, is currently set for release some time between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020, pending licensor approval.
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law. The film premieres in theaters March 8.
