In a surprising move, Gemma Chan is reportedly in talks to join The Eternals, despite having already appeared in Captain Marvel.

Variety reports Chan is in talks for Marvel Studios' latest franchise, The Eternals. Of course, Chan previously appeared in Captain Marvel as Minn-Erva. However, it appears her role in The Eternals would be a very different character. If this is the case, this would mark the first time someone from a Marvel Studios film has appeared in two different franchises as different characters.

Chan looks to join the previously announced Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, and Lia McHugh. While a majority of the cast was introduced at Comic Con International in July, there are still a few key members to be cast, including Sersi and Karen. Many believe the latter is actually none other than Margo Damian.

Either role would be bigger than Chan's part as Minn-Erva. However, it remains to be seen just which character will bring the actor back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In addition to her work in the MCU, Chan also has a role in Warner Bros.' Crazy Rich Asians series of films. She is perhaps best known for her work on the AMC series Humans, in which she starred for three seasons, as well as her role in Mary Queen of Scots.

Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh and Angelina Jolie as Thena. The film arrives in theaters on November 6, 2020.
