After months of anticipation, Marvel Studios has finally kicked off the official promotion for Captain Marvel.
The day after an exchange on social media between star Brie Larson and Entertainment Weekly, in which the two accounts teased a reveal that would "break the Internet," the magazine delivered the first official look at Larson in her costume as Captain Marvel.
In addition to the cover reveal, the accompanying EW article also shares previously unrevealed details about the movie fans have been looking forward to for years, including whether it will be an origin story, why Earth may not be aware of her existence and new information about Jude Law's role in the film.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, and Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace and Annette Bening in as-yet-undisclosed roles. The film arrives March 8, 2019.
