In a massive step forward for female composers, Marvel Studios has hired Pinar Toprak to score Captain Marvel.

While Toprak has worked on the video game Fortnite and Syfy's Krypton, this will mark her biggest project to date. More importantly, however, it will also makes her the first female composer to score a major comic-book movie.

She made the announcement Thursday night on Instagram, where she called it an "incredible honor" to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Toprak also thanked Marvel music supervisor Dave Jordan, as well as Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck for giving her the "opportunity of a lifetime."

Toprak provided additional music for 2017's Justice League, which resulted in her landing Krypton. Her most famous work to date, however, is Fortnite, the massively popular mobile game. While it will be some time before we hear Toprak's score for Captain Marvel, those interested in getting to know her work can check out some of her music through her YouTube channel.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, and Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace and Annette Bening in as-yet-undisclosed roles. The film arrives March 8, 2019.
