A new Captain Marvel fan video breaks down the movement trying to derail the film in what may well be the best piece of marketing the movie has received to date.
Comedians Kirk Deveyck and Julien Keermelckbrugge released the video on their social media channels as part of their ongoing #MarvelFansUnited campaign. Their viral videos promote upcoming releases and, right now, all their attention is directed to Brie Larson as Carol Danvers.
The clip clocks in at just over two minutes and orders fans to make sure they pre-order tickets and flood cinemas for Marvel Studios' landmark movie featuring its first female lead. It sees them ad libbing as to why the movie will rock and how awesome the cast is, all spliced into Captain Marvel's epic action sequences. Apart from the spectacle at hand, the duo's big message is all about inclusiveness, diversity and acceptance in superhero films, praising Captain Marvel as a stepping stone and not a stumbling block.
Amid the jokes, they also warn folks to ignore the bad reviews that vindictive internet trolls are posting to kill the movie's momentum. The video ends as they cleverly use a Winter Soldier gag to get fans to request that Marvel take them to the premiere of the film in London next month.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Yon-Rogg, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau. The film arrives on March 8.
