Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon initially intended to include Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in his film, though the cameo was left on the cutting room floor. However, Marvel Studios' recently released Infinity Saga box set reveals a look at that cut appearance.

Posted on Reddit, a stand-in for Captain Marvel appears alongside Vision, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Sam Wilson/Falcon and James Rhodes/War Machine. Steve Rogers/Captain America and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow look on. The stand-in was eventually removed from the film digitally.

Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige previously said the studio chose not to include Captain Marvel in Age of Ultron so as to do her justice. Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, eventually got her own solo movie this year, which proved a major box office success on release, grossing over $1 billion. The character went on to appear in Avengers: Endgame, and a sequel to Captain Marvel is currently in development.

Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow will be the next film in the MCU. That movie stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz. The film arrives in theaters on May 1, 2020.
