The cast and crew hoodie for Captain Marvel may give away an appearance by an unexpected character: Carol Danvers' cat Chewie.

An Instagram post by Samuel L. Jackson may have just spoiled the addition of the fan-favorite feline to a cast that already includes the likes of Brie Larson, Clark Gregg, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou and Annette Bening. The coat of arms-like design on the back of the sweatshirt depicts the S.H.I.E.D. and Captain Marvel insignias above banners emblazoned with "Fury" and "Danvers." In between is a yellow cat that looks a lot like Chewie.

The inclusion of the cat on the hoodie may only be Easter egg for fans of the Captain Marvel comics, but its prime position certainly suggests a larger role in the upcoming film.

Introduced in 2006, Chewie went to explore the universe with Danvers. When their paths crossed with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon revealed that Chewie is actually a member of the alien Flerken race. More than just a furry companion, Chewie has proved to be a formidable feline that can spout tentacles from its mouth and store an entire galaxy within.

While these powers and Chewie's teleportation ability may not be depicted on screen in Captain Marvel, it is still an interesting idea for the franchise to play with. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands into a more cosmic direction — and with writer/director James Gunn already working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 — Chewie could prove to be more than just a house cat. Also, just imagine a Captain Marvel post-credits scene in which Chewie unleashes its powers with some classic MCU comic timing.
