Following Marvel Studios' announcement that production has officially commenced on Captain Marvel, new set photos have surfaced highlighting the film's '90s fashion.
Star Brie Larson and co-star Lashana Lynch were spotted heading to set earlier this week in era-accurate clothing, which for Larson included a Guns and Roses sleeveless top, as well as a classic United States Air Force shirt.
Despite taking place primarily in outer space, the film has plenty of groundwork to lay ahead of Carol's journey to becoming Captain Marvel. While it's unclear just who Lynch is playing (reports suggest she could be Monica Rambeau, or Monica's mother, Maria Rambeau), it is clear that her character will play a big role during Carol's story -- at least during her time on Earth.
Captain Marvel will follow Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) journey to become one of the most powerful heroes in Marvel's cosmic pantheon, Captain Marvel. To do so, the film will journey back to the '90s, where Carol acquires her powers.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva. The film is targeted for release on March 8, 2019.
