As one of the most powerful heroes in all of Marvel Comics, Carol Danvers has had some unforgettable moments over the decades. After making her debut on the big screen, Captain Marvel has become more popular than ever. Despite her growing popularity, Carol Danvers has not always been the heroic figure that fans have come to love.

More than once the beloved character has crossed the line onto the bad side. Carol Danvers has shown a dark side to her character throughout her history. While she remains one of the strongest heroes in the universe, she could without a doubt be one of the most intimidating villains if she were to fully embrace her villainous side. These are the 10 worst things that Carol Danvers has done.

10 The Puppet Master

Carol Danvers has faced a wide variety of villains and easily overcame the challenges. With the Puppet Master, she was especially furious when she learned that the villain had not only enslaved a group of women with his mind control, but he had also taken control over a very close friend of hers. In her rage, Danvers let the Puppet Master blow himself up, noticing how easily she could have saved him from doing so. To make matters worse, the hero later lied to her teammates about her actions, saying that there was no way to stop the villain from destroying himself. While she was right in being angry at the villain, letting him destroy himself was a dark path for the hero to go down.

9 Drinking On The Job

Captain Marvel has been through some major tragedies in her past, and as a result, the hero turned to alcohol in an attempt to run away from her past. During her time with the Avengers, Danvers began drinking heavily due to some unfortunate events that she had endured. Not only is alcohol an unhealthy way of managing her problems, but Captain Marvel also continued working with the team while under the influence.

The problem became so bad that Danvers was forced to leave the team because she had put them in danger multiple times. The hero's unstable coping mechanisms endangered her and her teammates more than once.

8  Supported Hydra

Hydra has been secretly trying to rule the world for years. At one point, they secretly infiltrated and took control of some of the most powerful heroes, allowing the organization to carry out some diabolical plans. Danvers was one of the figures in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D when Hydra took control of her. After being brainwashed, Danvers had received an entirely new identity and was given a seat on the council of the evil organization. From this new position of power, Danvers had a part to play in carrying out Hydra's missions to seize control of the world.

7 Tried To Kill Every Version Of Rogue

The rivalry between Rogue and Danvers is so strong that it broke through to multiple universes. Rogue at one point steals Captain Marvel's abilities, which traumatizes Danvers so badly that one version of herself refuses to let it go. Many versions of the two characters work things out, but one version of Danvers is set on eliminating all versions of Rogue across many universes.

This means that certain versions of herself must defend Rogue from an angry Captain Marvel. This weird and powerful grudge shows how bad the character has been in the past, one version of her was willing to kill every version of Rogue for revenge.

6 Turning On Mutants

Carol Danvers has had a long-standing friendship and strong trust with Nick Fury. When the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D leaves his position, he gives control over to Carol Danvers. As the new leader of this powerful organization, Danvers could have done a lot of good for mutants around the world. However, because of the villainous actions of Magneto, Danvers blames all mutants instead of doing more to support them. She blames mutants so she can maintain control and order, rather than working towards peace between humans and mutants. This decision shows that there is a dark side to Danvers that comes out from time to time.

5 Takes Over Rogue's Mind

The two characters have had a rivalry for years, so neither of them are particularly victims in their long-lasting feud. However, no matter the circumstances of their relationship, it is not okay for Danvers to control Rogue's body like she is a machine.

Multiple times over the years Captain Marvel has managed to control Rogue's mind, using her powers to fight different bad guys in whatever tricky situation they were in. While Danvers never did it to harm her, it was still wrong to take control of someone else's mind just to use their powers, even if it is for the greater good.

4 Lets Norman And Harry Osborn Fight

During her time as the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D, Danvers is tasked with taking care of Harry Osborn, while his father chases down the carrier as the Green Goblin. The Green Goblin and his son are engaged in an intense battle, as Danvers watches on and orders her soldiers to fire on the Green Goblin. Ultimately, Norman Osborn tragically kills his son during the conflict. During the conflict, Danvers does not engage even though she is powerful enough to blast Norman Osborn away. It was clearly a bad call to not intervene between the two fighting family members as the conflict unfolds in such a heartbreaking way.

3 Punches Tony Stark Into A Coma

In the storyline of Civil War II, Captain Marvel makes several increasingly wrong decisions, becoming more of a villain as the situation escalated. As Captain Marvel doubles down on her decisions, the group of heroes split into two teams, the other team being led by Tony Stark. As the teams clash, Captain Marvel goes head to head against Iron Man. The fight is sad to see as Carol Danvers punches Tony Stark brutally, sending him into a coma that he has to recover from for awhile. It is never good to see two heroes fight, but seeing Captain Marvel use her powers against Tony Stark was heartbreaking.

2 War Machine's Death

Within the same event, Carol Danvers sent War Machine on a crucial mission that eventually led to his demise. This could have easily been avoided by Captain Marvel taking his place instead. Danvers at the time is much stronger than War Machine, and very likely would have survived that mission if she had gone in his place. To make matters worse, Danvers did not inform Tony Stark beforehand, so he did not get a chance to properly equip his friend before he embarked on the fatal mission. The whole situation just further escalates the conflict and proves to be another sad example of Carol Danvers being less heroic than she can be.

1 Precognitive Arrests

Out of all the bad things Danvers has done in the past, many of them were out of her control to a certain extent. Whether she was being brainwashed, or just not around in time to help out, many of her bad actions were not in her direct control. However, at one point she uses visions of the future that cannot be verified to arrest heroes before any wrong actions have happened. This is one of the worst things Carol Danvers has done because it was her decision, and she chose to trust in someone else's visions rather than act on evidence, wrongly arresting people before they committed any crime.
