Carol Danvers, the latest superhero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe's roster, won't appear onscreen until her origins are explored in Captain Marvel, which hits theaters in March. One thing that we know about her so far, though: she's really, really strong. But is she worthy?
Marvel fans, of course, have a special way of determining worthiness. In an interview with BuzzFeed Brazil, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson had the chance to answer "one nerdy question" about her character: could Carol lift Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor?
Larson didn't have to think about it too long. As soon as she heard the question, she began nodding with a confident smile, and then delivered a one-word answer: "Definitely."
Mjolnir was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok and replaced by Thor's new weapon, Stormbreaker, so there probably won't be an opportunity for Carol to test her worthiness as other Avengers have done. However, it's hard to doubt Larson's judgment when she shows she's such a strong believer in Carol's inner strength and integrity.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as the commander of Starforce, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, and Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace and Annette Bening in as-yet-undisclosed roles. The film arrives on March 8, 2019.
