Around the time of the release of Avengers: Endgame, the main match-up that interested fans was the possibility of Ant-Man finishing off Thanos in a variety of ways. However, the film showed us that Captain Marvel was the one who could go toe-to-toe with the Titan the best.

Since there were many factors that led to Thanos and Captain Marvel’s confrontation veer the way it did in the film, we’re devising our own scenarios in this list as to how Captain Marvel could defeat him. Of course, we’ve taken several liberties over the backdrop of these possibilities, but they are based on the established feats both characters displayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

10 Tear Through Him Using Super Speed

Thanos’ warship, the Sanctuary II, was seen as the ultimate weapon in the galaxy, able to disarm the Asgardians and wreak havoc wherever it went. Captain Marvel made this look like a joke; by using her super speed, she bulldozed through the Sanctuary II.

We bring up this fact to put focus on how piercing through Thanos shouldn’t be a problem if Captain Marvel finished off his warship so easily. It’s easy to imagine Thanos being caught off-guard by Captain Marvel, as she reaches ultra levels of speed and rips through Thanos completely.

9 Tossing Him Into Space

We know that Thanos is durable, but there’s nothing to suggest he’s durable to the point where space doesn’t have an effect on him. He did use a ship to move around, meaning he couldn’t survive by himself in space, and this is an area Captain Marvel has no problem with.

Since she can also fly and utilize her super speed, Captain Marvel could hold onto Thanos and take to the skies. Here, it would only be a few seconds before she’d reach the planet’s atmosphere, by which point all she’d have to do would be to toss Thanos out into space and cause his instant demise.

8 Choke Him Out Using Super Strength

We already saw this happen at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, where Captain Marvel was the one to ambush Thanos on Titan II. She did so by grabbing Thanos into an inescapable stranglehold, one which he attempted to fight against but couldn’t.

Even a full-strength Thanos lost the test of strength against Captain Marvel in the film’s climax, which leads us to believe that she wouldn’t have a problem keeping in a tight grip from behind. Once the hold is locked in, Captain Marvel would be too powerful to shake off, and it would spell curtains for Thanos as he’d get choked to his demise.

7 Crushing Him Under The Sanctuary II

There didn’t seem to be much that kept Thanos down for the count, as we saw in Avengers: Infinity War. Iron Man and company attempted to crush him under debris, among other things. However, the Sanctuary II might be the thing that Thanos wouldn’t be able to overcome.

Since the ship was so enormous in scale, it would be too much for Thanos to lift off himself; we’re also considering Captain Marvel to be putting pressure from above. With Captain Marvel pinning Thanos with this humongous warship, the only possibilities seem to be either him getting crushed to death or Thanos choking under the weight of the ship

6 Use The Gauntlet On Him

Who says only Thanos was powerful enough to withstand the stones and live to tell the tale? Captain Marvel’s powers were born out of one such Infinity Stone, so it’s entirely plausible for her to be powerful enough to make the Snap as well and not perish like Iron Man did.

If she were to get her hands on the Gauntlet, then there’s nothing Thanos could do to counter an attack. Captain Marvel wouldn’t even need to use all the stones, as simply using a single one of them would be enough to put the Titan down for the count.

5 Going For The Head With Stormbreaker

Thor had mentioned in Avengers: Infinity War how lesser beings wouldn’t be able to handle the sheer power of Stormbreaker, but Captain America was seen doing just that without suffering any effects in Avengers: Endgame. This is proof enough that Captain Marvel qualifies too.

With the power that Stormbreaker grants, Captain Marvel could easily put herself in a similar position as Thor had with Thanos. Using her superior speed compared to Thor, Captain Marvel should be able to aim and toss Stormbreaker better, allowing her to pierce Thanos’ skull and finish the Titan’s threat.

4 Overload Him With Cosmic Energy

Out of all these scenarios, this is one that could go 50/50. We’re not completely certain of Thanos’ complete capabilities as far as his durability is concerned, but we’re still willing to make this point due to there being no proof that Thanos can absorb energy.

Captain Marvel, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of doing so, and she can even discharge this energy in the form of photon blasts. So, this strategy would involve Captain Marvel seizing Thanos and unloading all the cosmic energy she’s absorbed into the Titan to completely fry him in and out.

3 Taking Him To The Bottom Of The Sea

Thanos’ strength and physiology appeared to be on par with the Hulk, and we saw the latter almost meet his end in Avengers: Endgame when he almost dropped beneath the Avengers compound. This means Thanos shouldn’t be immune to drowning either, and it’s a pretty simple strategy to employ.

Similar to the point with Thanos being thrown into space, this one would require Captain Marvel to take hold of the Titan and drag him underwater to the lowest depths. Since she has her super speed and binary mode on hand, Captain Marvel wouldn’t be in trouble with the ocean’s pressure, and would only need to leave Thanos down there to drown.

2 Disarming The Gauntlet And Engaging One-On-One

Why speculate over these possibilities when Captain Marvel could just go old school? Since she was the only one apart from Scarlet Witch to keep up with Thanos, there’s only the Infinity Gauntlet standing in her way.

Once that is disposed of, Captain Marvel should be golden with her chances. Thanos didn’t seem to have a clue how to defeat her during the Battle of Earth, so a fair one-on-one fight is overwhelmingly in Captain Marvel’s favor. Her photon blasts, super strength, super speed, and the ever-faithful binary mode can dispatch Thanos’ armor and weaponry.

1 Use An Infinity Stone Like He Did

It was this Infinity Stone that led to Avengers: Endgame, and it was again the Power Stone that got Thanos the win against Captain Marvel. However, his advantage here had been that the Power Stone had been facing his way to pluck out of the Gauntlet and punch Captain Marvel with.

In a scenario where the Power Stone would be for her to grasp, Captain Marvel would be able to return the favor to Thanos and use it to obliterate him. Since the Space Stone was the source of Captain Marvel’s powers, it would make sense for her to be able to use this one to defeat Thanos once and for all.
