Larson also discussed why she loves seeing the impact her character has on audiences around the world. "Three years have just been the beginning for me of getting to see what the importance of having characters like this can do for people," she added. "It can bring strength, it can bring confidence, it can bring community, and so we're just getting started and I'm really excited for people to see what's next."

Larson joined the MCU in 2019's Captain Marvel, where she helmed the franchise's first female-led solo film. The film was a huge success, grossing a worldwide total of $1.13 billion at the box office and becoming the first female-led superhero movie to cross the $1 billion mark. Larson also appeared as Carol Danvers in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and most recently popped up in the post-credits scene for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

While details about the plot are still unknown, Larson did add that she has been training extremely hard for the film to portray an even stronger and more powerful Captain Marvel.

The Marvels will be directed by Nia DaCosta, whom Larson described as "incredible". "She's such a leader, has such clear vision. I had amazing castmates and there's just a huge sense of camaraderie," Larson explained. "I had a really beautiful experience and I really love working with my Marvel family, so it was all good for me."

The Marvels is slated for release on Feb. 17, 2023.
