Captain Jack Returns In Titan's New "Torchwood" Ongoing

Titan Comics has announced the launch of a new "Torchwood" ongoing comic series. The new adventures of Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper will be written by written by "Torchwood" star John Barrowman, who played Harkness, and Carole E. Barrowman with art from Antonio Fuso and Pasquale Qualano. The debut issue will come with variant covers from Tommy Lee Edwards, Elena Casagrande, Blair Shedd and Rod Reis.

The new "Torchwood" comic series sees Captain Jack once again in Cardiff to team up with Gwen as they get caught in the middle of a battle between an ancient civilization and a totally new threat. The series will follow Jack and Gwen as they race to rebuild Torchwood before the Earth is destroyed.

The comic continues where the "Torchwood" series left off and exists in continuity with the new "Torchwood" audio dramas produced by Big Finish. A spinoff of "Doctor Who," "Torchwood" originally ran for four seasons between 2006 and 2011, producing 41 episodes. The series focused on Jack and Gwen's paranormal investigation team.

"Torchwood" #1 arrives in stores on July 6. Titan's third annual "Doctor Who" Comics Day event takes place later that week on Saturday, July 9.
