Marvel's Captain Carter calls for reinforcements from a fan-favorite member of the X-Men in her first solo series.

In April's Captain Carter #2, Peggy Carter adjusts to her new life in the modern era as she faces off against her old foe, Hydra. Luckily, Peggy won't be going it alone, as the issue teases a team-up with S.T.R.I.K.E., a British intelligence agency comparable to the United States' S.H.I.EL.D. The cover of Captain Carter #2 by Jamie McKelvie depicts one of the organization's agents fighting side-by-side with Peggy. Though unnamed in Marvel's solicitation for the issue, the character's pink hair and the presence of the surname "BRADDOCK" on her lapel makes her a dead-ringer for Betsy Braddock, a British member of the X-Men.

Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock is the sister of Brian Braddock, Marvel's original Captain Britain. Betsy decided that she wanted to be a hero at a young age and -- when she developed telepathic abilities -- enlisted in S.T.R.I.K.E.'s Psi Division. Over time, Betsy decided to leave the organization and joined the X-Men, taking on the codename Psylocke.

In her many adventures with the X-Men, Betsy had her mind transferred into a new body, died, was brought back to life as a psychic ninja and eventually returned to her original body. Now operating as Captain Britain, Betsy leads the Excalibur team and will be the focal point of the upcoming series, Knights of X.

While Betsy's popularity has endured for multiple decades, Captain Carter is Peggy Carter's first solo series. The book, written by McKelvie and drawn by Marika Cresta, reimagines the What If...? star by taking her out of the trenches of World War II and into the modern age. Speaking on bringing the hero into a brave new world, McKelvie said, "I'm having a great time exploring what it would be like for Peggy to wake up nearly 80 years after the end of the war. The world remembers the myth of Captain Carter, but to Peggy the reality was just yesterday. Now she finds herself in a nearly unrecognizable new world, how does she fit in? Can she be the super hero people want her to be?"

Outside of teaming up with Betsy, Peggy seems to have found some like-minded allies in the pages of Avengers Forever. The plot centers on an incarnation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes whose members hail from different corners of the Multiverse. Though she has yet to appear in the series, Captain Carter was featured on the cover of the book's debut issue, teasing her imminent arrival. However, given that Peggy appears in her classic costume in this art, this Carter may be another variant of the hero featured in Captain Carter.

Captain Carter #2 is set to hit comic store shelves and digital platforms April 13 from Marvel Comics.
