Captain America, Superman, Bleach: March 22nd Comic Reel

The search continues! As we here at CBR reported, Chris Evans has been offered the part. While neither Marvel nor Evans’s camp would confirm the offer, first reported by Heat Vision, the news has been welcomed in fan circles. It’s not a done deal, however. A source tells Big Shiny Robot Evans is still under contract for a third “Fantastic Four film” and Fox could always use their option to prevent the actor from taking the lead part. Their source also adds Kellan Lutz and Alexander Skarsgard to the list of potential Super Soldiers. Who would’ve thought this part would be harder to cast than Thor? Meanwhile, an old friend reports the production is already look for extras.

Release date: July 22nd, 2011

Christopher Nolan gives MTV News a few details of the “Superman” project and speaks not of the “Justice League”:

Release date: 2012?

As we reported last night here at CBR, Warner Bros is looking to secure the rights to the manga series “Bleach” with the intent to produce a feature. In Japan, the series has already spawned an animated TV show, several animated films, and seven musicals.

Release date: TBA

MTV News has a clip from the film in which Red Mist shows off his Mist-Mobile:

Starring Nicholas Cage, release date: April 16th, 2010

Superhero Hype asks Greg Berlanti about rumors of him taking up directing duties on “The Flash.” He responded, “Nah, you know right now, it’s all about… ‘Green Lantern’ just started shooting a couple of days ago and everyone is really excited about that. I’m mostly focused just on finishing up this movie. I haven’t really thought about any of that stuff yet, but just hoping this goes well.” Berlanti’s first major studio film “Life as We Know It,” opens in December.

Release date: TBA

Hitfix reports Bryan Singer may not direct the film after all. Despite last week’s article in the LA Times, a source tells Hitfix Fox has been taking meetings with other directors. While no list is provided, Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny writes the potential replacements are “good names, guys who either have real experience in the comic book movie medium or who have heavy credibility with fan audiences. Names that would make fanboys happy from the first moment they’re announced.” Singer’s commitments to Warner Bros’s “Jack the Giant Killer” and Fox’s intended (but undisclosed) release date come into conflict. Should the plan get derailed, Singer is expected to return to the franchise as a director with “X-Men 4.”

Release date: TBA

Disney’s official DisneyParks Blog has the first official footage of Disney’s Monorail sporting offical Disney’s “Tron Legacy” colors and imagery. Offically.

Starring Jeff Bridges, release date: December 17th, 2010

Following up on the photos of ice forms a few weeks ago comes new photos of Thor’s New Mexico location thanks to Before the Trailer (via IESB):

Honestly, it’s hard to tell if this is base camp or an actual shooting location. If it weren’t for that one cherry picker, you’d be hard pressed to call this a film production. The fact this is in New Mexico means it’s worth calling in Mulder and Scully to investigate. That’s right, I just made an “X-Files” reference ten years after its freshness dating expired.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 6th, 2011

Sam Worthington tells IESB about one thematic difference between the remake and the 1980 original. “The themes of embracing the God side and achieving things as a God are not good for any of us. That you can only succeed as a God is a terrible thing to say to a kid. If you can say that you can do it as a man, and look deep inside of you and do it as a man, I think that’s a good message for anybody, and I really hammered Louis about wanting to embrace that side of it,” says Worthington. Meanwhile, Collider has several clips from the movie. I haven’t watched them as I’ve entered no-spoiler mode, but feel free to take a look:

Starring Sam Worthington, release date: April 2nd, 2010

“The Incredible Hulk” and “Clash of the Titans” director Louis Leterrier tells Ain’t It Cool News he’s on the shortlist of potential directors. “I am on the shortlist, but I’m at the bottom of the shortlist, I’m sure … I don’t know who the other guys are, but I have a great relationship with [Marvel], and I’ve been very vocal to them and everyone else that I am the one to direct it,” says Leterrier.

Release date: May 4th, 2012

Another week means another chance to defeat the Hollywood Mysterio and his mists of confusion, not that anything is confirmed until a film his home video. Someday we may know who will play Captain America and who will direct “The Flash.” Until then, the rumors keep us guessing. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of the news to come.
